CAIRO – 18 October 2017 : Egypt Volleyball Federation President Khaled Nassef decided to postpone the opening ceremony of the 2017 Men's African Volleyball Championship to be on Monday instead of Sunday. The competition games will be started on Sunday, but only the ceremony will be postponed.

The opening ceremony was scheduled to be on Sunday, but Al Ahly’s game against Etoile Du Sahel in the CAF Champions League semi-final second leg will be played on the same day, which will attract the attention of the Egyptian fans.

Egypt hosts the 2017 Men's African Volleyball Championship from October 22-29 for the eighth time.

Egypt, the reigning champions, hopes to win their 7th title in a row to be the nation with the highest amount of titles in this competition, as Egypt and Tunisia share the top with 8 titles each.

Egypt depends on their veteran players Abdullah Abd El Salam and Ahmed Salah to lead the team to win the title.
