CAIRO – 16 October 2017: Al Ahly would play every 48 hours if the club managed to win the CAF Champions League title and qualify to the FIFA Club World Cup, Amer Hussein, EFA competitions committee head, told Egypt Today on Monday.
“We allowed every team to add 30 players to their list to be able to play in different competitions,” Hussein told Egypt Today.
Hussein added, “We have to end all domestic competitions by May 20 to afford Egypt’s national team proper time to prepare for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.”
Al Ahly plays against Tunisian club Etoile du Sahel on Sunday, October 22 at Borg El Arab Stadium in the CAF Champions League semi-finals second leg. Al Ahly lost the first leg in Tunisia 2-1.
Al Ahly, if it qualifies to the CAF Champions League final, would play the final in November, and if the team won the title, it would participate in the FIFA Club World Cup in UAE from December 6-16.
