CAIRO – 8 October 2017: Egypt`s Minister of Youth and Sports Khaled Abd El Aziz has visited the Egyptian national team`s camp in Borg Al Arab before the expected clash against Congo on Sunday, October 8.

“It is the most important game for Egypt in the last 28 years; don’t repeat what happened in 1994,” Abdel Aziz spoke to TV station ON Sport.

Egyptian fans threw stones against Zimbabwe’s national team during a game at the 1994 World Cup qualifiers when the Egyptian team was winning. FIFA decided to replay the game in France and the game ended 0-0, eliminating the Egyptian team from qualifying.

Abdel Aziz added, “I know the fans’ enthusiasm and passion, but I want them to be calm and wise and follow security instructions.”

EFA President Hany Abo Rida hopes luck will be on the Pharaoh`s side in Congo`s match.

“We hope luck will be on our side against Congo and that we put effort in order to achieve the positive result we aspire to. We have six points to play for. We do not want to make it sound that the Congo game is the last one,” Abo Rida told On Sport.
