CAIRO – 7 October 2017 : Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce praised his Egyptian player Ahmed Elmohamady. Bruce described Elmohamady as a “manager’s dream”.
“He is a delight; a manager’s dream,” Bruce told Birmingham Mail on Friday.
Bruce added, “You know, in seven years, I cannot remember him missing a match for me. He trains every day as if it is his last. And he’s there every day, always.”
Elmohamady played under Bruce’s command for three different teams – Sunderland, Hull City and Aston Villa.
Bruce spoke about his relationship with the Egyptian defender, saying, “I brought him over when he was 22; he’s 30 now. In all that time, I can count on the fingers of one hand how many days of training he has missed. For me, he’s a great pro and a delight to work with.”
Bruce signed Elmohamady in 2011 from Egyptian club Enppi.
Bruce explained how Elmohamady changed since he first met him, saying, “Well, he has gone from being single and shy and not being able to speak a word of English, to married, with two kids. I have seen him grow up, but the whole time he’s been a delight.”
Elmohamady signed for Aston Villa this summer to play under Bruce’s command. He participated in 9 of 10 games with the team, only missing one game due to injury.
