CAIRO – 7 October 2017: Manchester United defender Eric Bailly spoke on Friday about the competition between the defenders at Manchester United and its impact on the team.
“It's very important for us. It's important for the team. It's important for the manager. And when it's like that, there is also competition amongst ourselves,” Bailly told United Review on Friday.
The Ivorian defender Bailly formed a successful partnership with Phil Jones from the start of the season, as Manchester United conceded only two goals in seven games in the Premier League.
Bailly added, “We always have to improve, because I don't think anyone is automatically entitled to their position in that team.”
Manchester United defenders Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof are waiting for their opportunity in the new season, beside the Argentinean defender Marcos Rojo, who returns from his injury soon.
Bailly joined Manchester United in 2016 from Spanish club Villarreal, and since then, he booked a regular place on Manchester United’s starting line-up.
