CAIRO – 4 October 2017: Spanish National team and Barcelona midfielder, Sergio Busquets, thinks that this time is the hardest in the history of the Spanish National team, after the current political situation in Spain.
"I would say this is my most difficult spell in the national team due to everything that is happening and I think it will be difficult to sort out the Pique situation," Busquets told the press on Wednesday.
Many voices in Spain asked to rule Barcelona’s defender, Gerard Pique, out of the Spanish national team after he declared his support for Catalonian independence, and insulted the Spanish prime minister and the Spanish police.
Rumors came from the Spanish national team camp saying that Pique had a problem with Real Madrid’s defender and Spanish national team captain, Sergio Ramos.
“I do not know if Ramos and Pique have spoken but it is not a usual situation, as for Pique he seems the same as ever,” Busquets continued.
The Spanish national team is preparing to play against Albania and Israel at the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.
