CAIRO – 27 September 2017: Al Ahly’s Tunisian defender, Ali Maaloul, calmed Ahly fans’ concerns regarding the team’s preparations for the African Champions League semifinal against Etoile on Sunday in Stade Olympique de Sousse, Tunisia.
“We only think about Sunday’s game, which has the same importance as the Esperance game. Etoile is a big team especially at their stadium with the support of their fans,” Maaloul told Ahly’s official website on Wednesday.
Maaloul, born in Sfax, said “we hope to achieve a good result before the second leg in Alexandria.”
Maaloul, 27, was the hero of Al Ahly’s stunning 2-1 victory over the Tunisian club Esperance on Saturday when he scored the first goal and provided a cross that allowed Junior Ajayi to score the second.
Maaloul spoke about his performance against Esperance. He said, “I promise Al Ahly fans to keep improving to help the team win the African Champions League title for the 9th time.”
