CAIRO – 20 September 2017 : The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced on Wednesday that Atletico Madrid’s new stadium, Wanda Metropolitano, will host the 2019 UEFA Champions League final.

“Madrid's Estadio Metropolitano has been selected to host the 2019 UEFA Champions League final on 1 June of that year,” the UEFA said in a statement.

Wanda Metropolitano is Atletico Madrid’s new stadium. It opened on September 16 when Atletico Madrid defeated Malaga 1-0.

Madrid will be the fourth city in history after Paris, Amsterdam and Munich to host the UEFA Champions League in two separate stadiums, as Real Madrid’s stadium, Santiago Bernabeu hosted the event in 1957, 1969, 1980 and 2010, and will be the second city to host five Champions League finals after London.

Wanda Metropolitano will be the fourth stadium in Spain to host the event after Santiagu Bernabeu in Madrid, Camp Nou in Barcelona and Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán in Sevilla.

NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kiev is hosting the 2018 Champions League final.
