CAIRO – 16 September 2017 – Al Ahly tied with Tunisian team Esperance Sportive on Saturday evening at Borg Al Arab Stadium in Alexandria, Egypt with two goals for each team in the CAF African Champions League’s quarter-final.

Al Ahly hosted Esperance at Borg Al Arab Stadium in the first leg match of the quarter-final, which ended 2-2. Al Ahly midfielder Abdallah El Saied scored an early goal for Al Ahly with a penalty kick in the 11th minute. Then Taha Khenissi scored the equalizing goal for Esperance in the 21st minute, and Ghilane Chalali added the second goal in the 47th minute. But Walid Azaro had another opinion and scored the second goal for Al Ahly in the 67th minute, resulting in a 2-2 draw.

Esperance's second goal came from a disastrous mistake by Sherif Ekrami, who failed to deal with a weak free kick and turned it into the net.

Next week at Stade Olympique de Radès, Esperance will host Al Ahly in the second leg match and the latter need to win or draw more than 2-2 to reach the semi-finals.
