CAIRO –15 September 2017: Egyptian tennis player Mohamed Safwat, who is ranked 211th in the world, lost in the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Challenger Tournament on Friday. The tournament is held in held in Shanghai, China.
The Egyptian player lost to Taiwan's Yin-Hsun Lo who ranked first in the tournament and 62nd worldwide in two sets without a reply.
Mohamed Safwat, 26, had previously lost in Zhang Gijang Challenger in China last week in the quarter-finals from Chinese Zhi Zhang in two groups without reply.
Safwat beat Jose Rubin Statham 2-0 on Tuesday and also beat Zihao Xia 2-0 on Wednesday in the tournament.
Safwat’s best rank in singles was 187th in March 2014. His best rank in doubles was 225 in September. His current doubles rank has dropped to 401st, according to ATP world tour’s official website.
