CAIRO – 14 September 2017: The national basketball team lost on Thursday to Morocco at the AfroBasket quarter finals in Tunisia and Senegal.

Egypt lost against Morocco at the AfroBasket held in Tunisia and Senegal, with a score for 62-66. The set results were 13-16 Egypt, 35-32 Morocco, 51-50 Morocco, and 62-66 Morocco. Thus, the Moroccan team qualified to the tournament’s semi-finals, while Egypt plays on the classifications between 5-8 places.

The Egyptian national basketball team travelled to Tunisia on Tuesday morning to continue its journey at AfroBasket after it qualified for the quarter-final.

The national team’s delegation left Senegal for Tunisia to participate in the quarter-finals of AfroBasket, which is jointly hosted between Senegal and Tunisia from September 8 to 16.

Egypt qualified to the quarter final after defeating Mozambique at the first round of group phase 75-47, and then faced its first loss in the second round from Senegal 52-87. Egypt then managed to defeat South Africa on Sunday with 70-51 in the final round of the group stage.

Egypt is represented at the PFRAfroBasket with 12 players: Amr Abdel Halim, Ramy Gunady, Ahmed Mohamed, Ibrahim El Gamal, Mouhanad El Sabagh, Moustafa El Mekawi, Youssef Abou Shousha, Ramy Abdallah, Moataz Bellah Okasha, Romeh El Sadani, Haytham Khalifa, and Ahmed Bakr, according to the FIBA official website.
