CAIRO – 12 September 2017: The Egyptian national basketball team travels to Tunisia Tuesday morning to continue its journey in AfroBasket after it has qualified to the quarter finals of the tournament.

The national team’s delegation left Senegal for Tunisia to participate in the quarter finals of AfroBasket, which is hosted by both Senegal and Tunisia from September 8 to 16.

The Pharaohs qualified for the quarter finals of the tournament to face Morocco on Thursday, the winner of this game will meet in the semi-finals with the winner of the match between Tunisia and Congo.

Egypt qualified to the quarter finals after defeating Mozambique in the first round of the group phase 75-47; then facing its first loss in the second round from Senegal 52-87; then managing to defeat South Africa on Sunday 70-51 in the final round of the group stage.

Egypt is represented at the AfroBasket with 12 players: Amr Abdel Halim, Ramy Gunady, Ahmed Mohamed, Ibrahim al-Gamal, Mouhanad al-Sabagh, Moustafa al-Mekawi, Youssef Abou Shousha, Ramy Abdallah, Moataz Bellah Okasha, Romeh al-Sadani, Haytham Khalifa and Ahmed Bakr, according to FIBA official website.
