Suarez praises Messi after scoring hatrick in the derby

CAIRO—10 September 2017: Barcelona striker, Luis Suarez, hailed teammate Lionel Messi after his great performance at the Catalan derby against Esapnyol on Saturday, which led the team to destroy their opponent.

“It is a privilege to play with the best in the world; he continues to show that people have a long way to catch [up with] him," Suarez told the press after the game.

Luis Suarez, 30, has shared Barcelona’s dressing room with Lionel Messi for three years. With both of them on the team, they have won 2 Spanish League titles, three Spanish Cup Titles, and the 2015 UEFA Champions League title.

Lionel Messi scored three goals in Barcelona’s 5-0 victory over Espanyol. Geread Pique and Luis Suarez scored the other two goals.

“They are three important points because they allow us to take advantage of our direct rivals slipping up, but of course, it is only the third match of the season,“ Suarez said about Saturday’s victory.

Barcelona tops the Spanish League with 9 points from 3 victories, 4 points ahead of their rivals, Real Madrid.
