van Marwijk wants to face Netherlands in World Cup

CAIRO - 7 September 2017: Saudi Arabia National Team Dutch manager, Bert van Marwijk hopes to play against his own country, Netherlands in 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

“I hope the draw to put Saudi Arabia and Netherlands in the same group in the World Cup, it would be special.” van Marwijk told Telegraph .

van Marwijk took Saudi Arabia to the World Cup after the team missed the last two editions of the World Cup in South Africa and Brazil.

van Marwijk revealed the Saudi Arabian players’ mood after securing their qualification, he said “ The atmosphere on the pitch and inside the dressing room was amazing.”

van Marwijk led Netherlands to 2010 World Cup Final when the team lost against Spain 1-0 thanks to Andres Iniesta late goal.

van Marwijk added “playing 2010 World Cup Final with Netherlands was the best achievement in my career, winning UEFA Cup 2002 with Feyenoord came after that and this achievement with Saudi Arabia isn’t so far.”
