CAIRO – 31 August 2017: Roy Keane, Manchester United’s veteran player, spoke on August 29 regarding the players current prices.
Talking at a press conference, Keane answered the questions on how much players who played in the past would cost in today’s market value.
Keane said, “Ruud Van Nistelroy would certainly be worth in the market now probably a billion. David Beckham? A billion. Ryan Giggs? Two billion,” citing from ESPN.
Keane added, “It's mind-boggling, the figures that are out there -- especially for the average players. If ever there was a time to be a professional player it's now. Average players are going for £35m. My goodness,” according to the BBC.
Keane continued, "When average players are going for £30-40m, it does make you scratch your head. But if clubs are prepared to pay that, then it's not the players' fault,” reporting from ESPN.
He concluded by saying how much he would cost, “"£3.75m, I think,” as referenced from BBC.
Roy Keane is considered to be one of United’s veteran midfielders who helped the club gain several trophies. Keane is now a pundit in one of Europe’s professional sports channels.
