30 August 2017: Bayern Munich participates on Wednesday in a friendly game against Regionalliga Südwest team. Kickers Offenbach to support the club through their financial problems.

“FC Bayern Munich is not only the most successful and popular club in Germany, but also known worldwide for its social commitment," Kickers Offenbach President Helmut Spahn said on Tuesday.

Helmut added, “my special thanks go to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who immediately supported me. This is by no means self-evident. The fact that FC Bayern once again proves that football is not always about their own advantage is a great gesture of solidarity. On behalf of all OFC committees and our fans, I can assure you that we will never forget the support of FC Bayern München.”

Kickers Offenbach, established in 1901 in Hesse, won the German Cup in 1970, beating FC Koln in the final. The club had suffered financial problems, and the club’s president contacted Bayern Munich CEO Rummenigge to help the team.

Rummenigge spoke about the game saying, "Kickers Offenbach is a traditional club and has always been an important club in Germany, so we are happy to support you with a rescue game. Kickers Offenbach will benefit all of this game. We hope that we can help to secure the future of this traditional society."

Bayern Munich is well known for his support to other German clubs in their financial problems even with their main rivals, Bayern Munich supported Borussia Dortmund with €2m in 2004 when their main rivals faced financial problems.
