David Villa is happy to be called for the Spanish national team squad after three years of absence, Villa told Spanish press on Tuesday.
“I'm living on cloud nine seeing all of my friends and teammates and recalling all of the great memories, but I'm also living in the present," Villa, 35 years old, said ahead of Spain’s decisive game against Italy in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Spain faces Italy on Saturday in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers in Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Villa spoke about his role with the national team as an experienced player, saying, “My role, as always, will be to help the team win and put all that I have into benefiting the national team. The coach is the one who decides if I will play, but I'll give everything to help. For me, it won't be a disappointment if I don't play though. Whatever is decided, I'll be supporting the team to the fullest.”
David Villa was part of the Spanish golden team that dominated the world, winning the UEFA Euro 2008, 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA EURO 2012.
