Nemanja Matic – Reuters
29 August 2017: Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic said on Monday that he believes his experience helped him adapt quickly with his new team, Manchester United.
“At 29, I am an experienced player, and, at that stage of my career, I shouldn't need too much time to adapt," Matic told Serbian press on Monday, according to Marca.com.
Matic traveled to Serbia to join the Serbian national team against Moldova and the Republic of Ireland for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Matic added, “I knew many of United's players before I joined, as I've played against them quite a few times. So I had a pretty good idea what I was walking into. The team helped me adapt quickly, and they treated me like one of their own in the dressing room from the very first day.”
Matic saw three victories in the Premier League with Manchester United, putting the team in the lead after three rounds.
Matic spoke about the team’s amazing start, saying, “We’ve made a pretty good start in the Premier League, but it's a long season. Winning the Premier League title will be a tough task, not just for us, but for everyone, because there are five or six realistic contenders."
Matic joined Manchester United this summer from their rival Chelsea.
