Ibrahimovic: Matic adds something extra to the team

CAIRO –25 August 2017: Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Manchester United’s striker, spoke on August 24 about Manchester United’s new signings.

Ibrahimovic who enjoyed a great season last year with United talked to ESPN about giving his number to Manchester United’s newcomer Romelu Lukaku along with talking about Lukaku’s quality as a striker. He also addressed the importance of signing Nemanja Matic.

Ibrahimovic told ESPN, "Lukaku called me and said: 'Bro, can I get the No. 9 shirt?' I said: 'I'm not on that level that I will make it difficult for you, I just want you to feel happy and feel welcome, so I give you the No. 9 but I will take the No. 10.' That's the way we do it.”

Ibrahimovic added to ESPN, “Signing Lukaku makes us even stronger because he has different qualities from me as a striker and from [Marcus] Rashford as a striker. Lukaku is a powerful guy and he brings extra qualities in a game."

Ibrahimovic concluded to ESPN, “I think the signing of Matic [is crucial]. He brings stability to the team that it didn’t have last year.”

Manchester United announced on August 24 at its official website the renewal of Ibrahimovic's contract with the club for one more year.
