24 August 2017: Stoke City defeated Rochdale AFC 4-0 on Wednesday night in the League Cup second round. Ramadan Sobhi scored his first goal with Stoke City since joining the club.
Stoke City dominated the game against the League One team, Rochdale. Stoke started the game with Peter Crouch, Bojan Krikic and Ramadan Sobhi in the attacking line.
Joe Allen scored the first goal for Stoke only 16 minutes after the starting whistle through a header, after a great pass from Erik Pieters.
Joe Allen then provided an assist in the 29th minute to Peter Crouch, who doubled Stoke’s advantage.
Allen scored his second goal, the third for Stoke City, three minutes before the first half whistle.
Stoke City had many chances to score the fourth goal in the second half, but the goal came only minutes before the final whistle when Ramadan Sobhi received a ball from Bojan Krikic. Sobhi took the ball around the goalkeeper to score his first goal for the club.
“We went about our business in the right way, created chances and managed to score four really good goals,” Stoke manager Mark Hughes told reporters after the victory.
Joe Allen scored two goals and provided one assist to win “Man of the Match”.
