24 August 2017:Liverpool won 4-2 over German team Hoffenheim on Wednesday night at the Champions League play-off second leg to secure their qualification to Champions League group stage. Liverpool won the first leg 2-1 in Germany last week.

Liverpool didn’t wait to open the score through their German midfielder, Emre Can, who scored the first goal after 10 minutes. Mohamed Salah scored Liverpool’s second goal eight minutes later, followed by Emre scoring his second goal in the 21th minute, bringing Liverpool’s score to three.

Hoffenheim scored their first goal through Mark Uth in the 28th minute to end the first half 3-1 for Liverpool.

Roberto Firmino scored Liverpool’s fourth goal in the 63th minute, while Sandro Wagner scored Hoffenheim’s second goal in the match. The match ended 4-2 for Liverpool.

Liverpool returned to the Champions League after three years of absence.

Liverpool accompanied nine other teams to the group stage, including Sporting Club de Portugal, PFC CSKA Moscow, Apoel FC, Qarabag FK, Cletic, Sevilla, Napoli, Olympiacos and NK Maribor. The 10 teams will be added to the previously qualified 22 teams in the group stage.
