CAIRO – 23 August 2017: Italian club Udinese asked to bring on Al Ahly youngster Ahmed Hamdy on loan after his successful trial with the Italian club from August 7-16.
Hamdy scored a goal and provided two assists for the Udinise youth team during his trial with the Series A club.
Udinese wants Hamdy on loan for one year from Al Ahly, with an option to buy the player next summer.
Hamdy is one of the promising talents in Egypt. He represented the Egypt U-20 national team during the U-20 Cup of Nations.
At 19 years old, Hamdy was promoted to Al Ahly’s first team last year, but he failed to earn a place inside the Al Ahly first team starting squad. He rejected offers from many Egyptian teams to join Udinese.
Hamdy is not the first Egyptian player to join Udinese, as former Zamalek player Hazem Imam also had a spell with the Italian team in 1996.
Udinese is competing in Series A. They lost their opening game in the new season 2-1 to Chievo.
