23 Aug 2017: Spanish club Burgos CF’s Twitter account was hacked on Tuesday to announce the signing of Barcelona’s biggest star, Lionel Messi.
“Leo Messi is the new player at Burgos CF,” the club tweet said.
Burgos CF recovered their account and deleted the tweet. They then tweeted, “Wow, it's early morning and our profile has suffered a hack that has already been controlled and neutralized. Sorry for bothering you.”
Burgos CF’s tweet has been retweeted more than 5,000 times and made the club’s name popular among Twitter fans.
Burgos fans joked about signing Messi, with one of them tweeting, “Of course. Good thing it's a hack. I was not convinced either, and he's 30. He would come and steal. Better someone young with enthusiasm.”
Another fan thought that Messi’s place on the starting squad isn’t guaranteed; he tweeted, “He will have to win the position. At least for the bench it can be worth.”
Burgos CF is competing in the Spanish third division league, and this tweet made the club famous.
