CAIRO – 23 August 2017: FC Barcelona’s Twitter account announced the signing of Paris Saint-Germain’s winger Angel Di Maria on the early hours of Wednesday. However, FC Barcelona’s fans joy of the new signing was diminished after finding out that the account was hacked.
With FC Barcelona’s board failing to sign a replacement for Neymar until now, things could not have gone worse by announcing a fake signing through a hacked Twitter account.
FC Barcelona entereda battle with the hackers; trying to retrieve the account in the following hours, subsequently posting a tweet saying:
"Our accounts have been hacked tonight. We're working to solve the problem as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience."
Then Spanish second division club Burgos C.F. took it as an opportunity to troll Spanish Giants FC Barcelona through announcing the fake signing of Barcelona’s star Leo Messi before claiming that their account was also hacked.
FC Barcelona’s board are currently going through difficult times following the loss of the Spanish Super Cup against club rivals Real Madrid. As well as failing to sign a quality replacement for Barcelona’s winger Neymar who joined Paris Saint-Germain on August 11.
