CAIRO – 23 August 2017: Al Zawra’a were crowned champions of the Iraq FA Cup for the 15th time in the club’s history on August 22 after beating Naft Al-Wasat.

Most of the game went scoreless, but Al Zawra’a managed to score a precious goal by Alaa Abdel Zahra in the last minutes of the game. They defeated Naft Al-Wasat 1-0 to win the Iraq FA Cup.

Even though Al Zawara’a is considered to be the team that has won the most trophies, they were unable to win the cup for 17 consecutive years from 2000-2017. On the other hand, Naft Al-Wasat has never won the trophy in the history of the club, and this was the first time that they finished in second place.

On a similar note, Egyptian TV channel ON Sport was able to obtain the rights of the match and air it live. The fans of both teams created an exciting atmosphere live from the stadium, cheering their respective teams on to win the match.
