Rooney returned to Everton this summer- Reuters
CAIRO - 22 August 2017: Everton’s captain, Wayne Rooney, scored his 200th goal in the Premier League on Monday against Manchester City, with the game ending 1-1.
"It was nice to do it today in such an important game for us, with tough games coming up. It was a sweet moment, and I am sure the red half of Manchester will have enjoyed it as well,” Rooney told reporters after the game.
Rooney added, "Everton have shown their ambition. We are trying to close that gap on the top teams."
Rooney started playing in the Premier League for Everton 15 years ago. He scored his first goal wearing Everton’s shirt against Arsenal in 2002.
Rooney played only two years for Everton before moving to play for Manchester United. He played there 13 years before resigning for Everton this summer, where he scored Everton's only two goals in the league this season.
