Farida Othman won the bronze medal in 2017 in Budapest – Farida Twitter Account
17 August 2017:Egyptian swimmer Farida Othman was honored during a festival held in Gazira Sporting Club in Cairo on Wednesday for achieving the bronze medal in the FINA Aquatic World Championships held in Budapest last month.
“I am so happy to be here; it means a lot to me. Thank you all; Gazira is my second home,” Othman said during the festival.
Farida Othman, 23 years old, started swimming when she was four years old at Gazira Sporting Club, before she continued her journey by swimming in the U.S.
Farida spoke about her future dreams, saying, “I hope the bronze medal to be just a start; my next goal is to achieve a medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.”
Youth and Sports Minister Khaled Abdel Aziz attended the festival to show his appreciation and support of Farida.
Farida Othman won the bronze medal in the FINA Aquatic World Championships held in Budapest. She became the first Egyptian to achieve a medal in the Swimming World Championships.
