Emirati Super Cup will be played at Air Defense Stadium

CAIRO – 15 August 2017: The United Arab Emirates Football Association has officially announced on its website that the Emirati Super Cup for the 2017-2018 season will be held in Cairo at the Air Defense Stadium.

“The match will be held on September 15 and will bring together Al Jazira, who holds the league title, and the cup winner Al Wehda,” the statement said.

The Air Defense Stadium hosted the Emirati Super Cup match last season also, which brought together Al Ahli Dubai and Al Jazira. That match ended in a 2-1 Al Ahli victory.
The statement pointed out that the approval for hosting the UAE Super Cup in Egypt came after the game received media attention and a high attendance rate last season.

The match was supposed to take place at Borg El Arab Stadium, according to earlier reports, before the Air Defense Stadium was eventually agreed upon.
