Gerrard captained Liverpool for 12 years - Reuters
CAIRO - 13 August 2017: Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard hopes that his beloved team, Liverpool, will be Premier League champions, but he expects Manchester City to achieve the title.
“My heart says Liverpool, but my head says Manchester City. I think where we stand at the moment, with a few weeks left of the transfer window, I think they are very, very well; they strengthened their weak areas in the last season,” Gerrard said to BT Sports.
Asked about his expectations for the Premier League top scorer, he answered, “I think Harry Kane. He is a fantastic and fabulous center forward; he reminds me of Alan Shearer. I think he is a natural finisher.”
Gerrard looks forward to watching many of the new signings, as he said, “I’m really looking forward to watching Bernardo Silva for Manchester City. I loved watching him in Monaco last year in the Champions League. Morata at Chelsea, Lacazette with Arsenal, and I am really looking forward to watching Salah, who scored heavily with Liverpool in the pre-season.”
Steven Gerrard, 37 years old, is a former Liverpool captain. He played for 17 years with the club, including 12 years as the team captain. He won the 2005 Champions League title with Liverpool.
