De Boer commits to his style of play at Palace

CAIRO –12 August 2017: Frank De Boer, Crystal Palace’s new manager, believes that his team started to adapt to his possession-based style of playing.

“The players are starting to believe; results help that progress, but this system is very suitable to the players here," De Boer told reporters ahead of his first game in the Premier League on Saturday.

De Boer spoke about his style during his time as a player, saying, “Every ball you play, you play with an idea. I never played a ball without an idea."

De Boer, 47 years old, added, “Do I play it hard because it is between the lines? Do I play it on his right foot because then I know he has to turn that way? Every pass has a message. That is the person I was as a player and also what I demand from my players."

De Boer had a great football career, having played in two of the biggest clubs in Europe. He played eleven years for Ajax Amsterdam and four years in Spain with Barcelona.

Crystal Palace opens their Premier League participation against newly promoted club Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
