CAIRO – 11 August 2017: Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is optimistic about the new Premier League season after the players’ performance in the pre-season, he told reporters on Friday.
“I’m looking forward to this season; we are in a good place. The players have come back fit and focused, and I’m happy with the pre-season we’ve had. I think we’re ready to go at West Brom,” Howe told reporters in a press conference.
Howe, 39 years old, added, “Naturally, everybody changes and I have to, too. You always want to do your absolute best for your team at this level; you have to be very demanding and keep pushing the players. We believe in pushing the players to get the maximum from them.”
It’s good to mention that Bournemouth signed goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and defender Nathan Ake from Chelsea, as well as picking up midfielder Connor Mahoney and striker Jermain Defoe on a free transfer, while they have also tied up long-term deals for several players.
Bounemouth manager Eddie Howe, a former English player, commented on the club’s new signings, saying, “We were really pleased to do our main transfer business early; sometimes it doesn’t work to plan, but this summer we’ve been fortunate to get the guys early and work with the team from the start of pre-season.”
“They have settled in very well on and off the pitch, not forgetting Connor Mahoney, who has also fit in well. We are a smaller, tighter squad then we were at this stage last season, but I think the quality is higher, and that could be a key difference.”
Bournemouth opens their Premier League participation against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
