Gundogan : Xavi is the master of the game

CAIRO-11 August 2017 : Manchester City German midfielder, Likay Gundogan looks to Barcelona legend, Xavi Hernandez as his role idol in football, the German told Marca on Thursday.

“I adored Xavi, he was my role model and I always used to watch him any time that I could," Gundogan spoke to Marca.

Gundogan enjoyed watching Barcelona during Xavi time there, he said “he was a master of the game to watch. The way that he played with Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi in that Barcelona side, I enjoyed watching that team and Xavi a lot."

Gundogan revealed his feelings about Neymar move to Paris Saint Germain for €222 million saying “It is clear that it is an incredible amount.”

Gundogan, 26 years, almost signed for Real Madrid when he was at Dortmund, he said “ I do think there was serious contact between Real Madrid and Borussia when I was at Dortmund, I had a contract there and the club didn't want to sell me”

Gundogan is ready to participate with his club Manchester City at the new Premier League campaign, Manchester City faces the newly promoted, Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
