Ghazal joins Vancouver Whitecaps

Cairo-10 August 2017: Ali Ghazal signed a one- year deal with Canadian side, Vancouver Whitecaps on Thursday to have a new challenge in the North American continent.


“Aly is a top midfield player who is comfortable on the ball and strong defensively,” Vancouver head coach, Carl Robinson told reporters after signing the Egyptian midfielder.

Ghazal ended his contract last July with Chinese side, Guizhou Zhicheng after the change in Chinese League rules that allowed only three foreign players of five to participate in the matches, Ghazal participated with Guizhou Zhicheng in one match in the Chinese Cup and he didn’t play any game in the Chinses League.

Ghazal told the Club’s media after signing the contract, “When I left China, I had different options to consider, but the decision was made easier after speaking with manager Robinson."

Vancouver plays in MLS Western Conference, their best achievement was in 2015 when they won Canadian Championship ; they also played 2016 CONCACAF Champions League semi-finals.

Ghazal added “I also did my own research and what attracted me even more to Vancouver Whitecaps was the great atmosphere around the club and the supporters."

Ali Ghazal, 25 years, played four years in Portugal with Nacional da Madeira where he had his best spell in his career.
