7 August 2017: Football is like a religion here in Egypt. Egyptians are crazy about the game; their mood always affected with their beloved teams’ results.
Egyptians show their interest and passion for the game in each moment during the day; in the morning, during work, they talk about the game; at night, friends and families gather to watch the game; they even go to war with their beloved teams’ shirts.
This is a photo of an Egyptian soldier wearing a Zamalek shirt during the Egyptian army’s preparations for 1973 war, the war that returned Sinai after six years of occupation by Israel.
Egyptian soldiers were weaponed with their families’ hopes to return our land, with their desire to get our dignity and pride back, and with their dreams for a beautiful life.
Soldiers went to the war with photos of their wives, families and friends. For Egyptians, your football team is like your home and its shirt is your flag; you should defend it till your last drop of blood.
Greetings to the people who gave their lives for us to live a safe, beautiful life.
