I am scared: Monchi on Neymar's transfer

4 August 2017:Neymar’s transfer to Paris Saint Germain for €222M ($261M) will cause crazy transfer fees, Roma’s football director, Ramon Monchi, told reporters on Friday.

“I am afraid. I am uneasy and I do not know where we will reach when it comes to future transfer fees," Monchi told reporters.

Monchi is well known for buying young players for cheap fees, but he is uncomfortable with the transfer fees these days.

Monchi said, “My history has been not to buy expensive players, and I'm afraid of this millionaire show at a time when many people are struggling to get ahead."

“I do not want to think that we are building a bubble that will explode at some point, like the real estate one that has damaged the world economy," he added.

Monchi worked before inside Spanish club Sevilla, discovering many great players, like Sergio Ramos and Jesus Navas. He also brought great names when they were young, having signed Dani Alves, Seydou Keita and Ivan Rakitic.
