Barcelona Ex- President:Neymar is the new Figo

4 August 2017 :Neymar Jr departure to Paris Saint Germain looks like Luis Figo's departure to Real Madrid 17 years ago, Barcelona ex- President, Joan Gaspart said on Thursday.

" Neymar is in the same boat as Figo," Gaspart spoke to Marca Radio after Barcelona former winger, Neymar Jr left Barcelona.

Gaspart was Barcelona President in 2000 when Luis Figo left Barcelona to join their rivals, Real Madrid, after Madrid paid his buy-out release of 56 million Euros.

Gaspart spoke about Barcelona fans’ feelings after Neymar movement, he said " He has made fun of the fans, but the Catalans are neither traumatised nor crying."

Gaspart had a lot of criticism after Figo's movement, but he doesn't want the same for Barcelona current president, Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Gaspart said " The board shouldn't be blamed for Neymar's departure, as they did everything they could to make him stay, Neymar has fought them in the same way that Figo fought with me."

Neymar signed a five- year contract with Paris Saint Germain leaving Barcelona after four years at the club.
