Egyptian team hopes to achieve first title – ebbfed.com

4 August 2017:Egypt Women's U 16 travelled to Mozambique on Thursday to participate in Women's AfroBasket U 16 held in Mozambique, seeking to achieve Egypt first title in the competition.

"We are well prepared and focused on our goal to win the African championship. We are focusing on ourselves and working on Mali's weak points to achieve our goal,” Egyptian Captain, Nada Yasser spoke to Fiba.com.

Egyptian coach, Ahmed Hamed, talking about his startegy to win the title, said "The main goal for me is to win each match separately and improve the image of Egypt after receiving the status of late in this previous tournament; however, for the players we have set one goal which is winning the African Championship,”

The best two teams in the competition will qualify to U 17 Women's World Cup held in Belarus.
Mali dominated the competition since its inception in 2009; they won four titles of four, Egypt lost three consecutive finals against Mali.
Hamed's chosen squad for the competition are Nada Yasser, Gana Haitham, Habiba Hatem, Salma Amr, Nour Sherif, Hana Nabil, Engy Salah, Salma Hesham, Fatma Hany, Yara Osama, Malak Khaled and Reem Ali.

Mozambique hosts the competition from August 5-13 for the second time, Mozambique hosted the competition in 2013 to become the first nation to host the competition twice.
