Austria defeated Spain in penalty shoot out - Women's Euro Official Website
CAIRO - 31 July 2017: Austrian goalkeeper, Manuela Zinsberger saved Spanish midfielder, Silvia Meseguer’s penalty to take Austria to UEFA women’s EURO semi-finals. Meanwhile, Austria faces Denmark on Thursday.
Austria met Spain in Women’s EURO quarter-finals on Sunday. Austria entered the game hoping to reach the semi-finals for the first time during their first participation in the competition.
Both teams failed to score any goal so the match went to penalties. But, Zinsberger managed to save Silvia’s penalty and take her team to the semi-finals.
Denmark won 2-1 over Germany on Sunday in the quarter final. Isabel Kerschowski opened the score for Germany after 5 minutes. But, Nadia Nadim and Theresa Nielson scored two goals for Denmark to secure a spot in the semi-finals.
Netherlands won 2-0 over Sweden on Saturday. They are waiting for the winner of England-France game to play their semi-finals on Thursday.
Netherlands hosts 2017 Women’s EURO from July 16 to August 6.
