CAIRO - 31 July 2017: Egypt’s women’s volleyball team lost 3-0 to host nation Kenya on Sunday in their last match in the Zone 5 African Cup of Nations qualifiers held in Kenya.
The Egyptian team couldn’t dominate the game against Kenya. They did not play like their first two matches and could not stop the attacks from Kenya’s players.
Despite losing the third game, Egypt’s first two victories led the team to the African Cup of Nations, which qualifies for the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship in Japan.
Egypt won over Rwanda 3-1 on Friday in their first match in the competition, before also winning over Uganda 3-0 in the second game on Saturday.
Egyptian coach Hesham Badrawy’s chosen squad for the qualifiers were Shorouk Fouad, Farida Asklany, Doaa Mohamed, Aya El Shamy, Aya Khaled, Nahla Sameh, Rahma Hassan, Sarah Amin, Doaa Ghobashy, Hedya Mostafa, Noor Yassin and Maryam Mostafa.
Kenya has the most African Cup of Nations titles with nine titles, while Egypt won the title only three times, the most recent one of which was in 2003 in Kenya.
