CAIRO – 30 July 2017: Esperance Sportive defeats Al-Hilal FC 3-2 on Sunday at Borg Al Arab stadium in the last round of the group stage of the Arab Club Championship.
The Tunisian Esperance Sportive started scoring after the first half at minute 46 of the game with a goal by Farid Al-Matry, but the Saudi Al-Hilal returned to the game when Abdel Rahman Hashem equalized in minute 48 of the match.
Haitham Al-Gweiny put Esperance back in the lead with a goal at minute 58, but the very strong players of Al-Hilal rebutted with a goal in minute 60 of the match Fahd Ayed Al-Rashidy.
The last word would come from Ghaylan Al Sha’alaly’s goal for Esperance in minute 73, marking their third and final goal of the match.
Esperance Sportive had already qualified, after the second round of group stage, to move forward to the semifinals with the other three qualified teams of Fath Union Sport, Al-Faisaly and Al-Ahly.
