CAIRO – 30 July 2017: Dani Alves, Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) right back, advised Neymar on Sunday to be selfish when deciding in his next destination.

With speculation surrounding Neymar’s transfer to PSG and the player having yet to make a formal decision, his Brazilian teammate and friend, Alves, offered up some advice.

Speaking to the press in the mixed zone following PSG’s victory in the French Super Cup, Alves advised Neymar to finalize his decision either to stay at Barcelona or go to PSG.

Alves stated, "I hope that this gets finalized. I have nothing to do with his decision. It is a very important choice for him. Men must make these sorts of decisions. I hope that he will join PSG. He is one of my best friends and I always want my friends alongside me,” as reported from ESPN.

Alves added, "I cannot get involved with his decision. It is a choice that is up to him only but we would welcome him with open arms if he does come.”

The Brazilian right back discussed his choices in the past and some factors to consider in making such a move. "Decisions are for the brave. I am the bravest. I decided to leave Barca and I left Juventus, I always take decisions. He must decide in order to mature and, in his mind, in order to continue to progress.”

While Alves admitted that he does speak to Neymar almost daily, it is not about football. Understanding how difficult these situations can be, Alves concluded with some advice, "It is a decision that he must take calmly. He needs to put himself first. You have to be selfish sometimes because clubs do not think about you unless you give them results,” citing from ESPN.

Alves played with his compatriot Neymar during his time at FC Barcelona as well as on the Brazilian national team.
