Belmonte gave Spain first Gold Medal in Budapest - Reuters
CAIRO - 28 July 2017: Spanish swimmer, Mireia Belmonte won 200m butterfly race on Thursday in Aquatic World Championships in Budapest to give her country the first Gold medal in the tournament.
Belmonte finished the race with 2:05.26 only 0.13 seconds ahead of the German Swimmer, Franziska Hentke who finished the race with 2:05.39.
"It's one of the bigger medals that I didn't have, that now I have, and I'm really, really happy with it. I still can't believe it's true, it still hasn't sunk in," Belmonte told reporters after the victory.
Belmonte added " It was a very difficult race because I had a lot of good swimmers in all the lanes, When I woke up I thought, 'I want to be best.' I was recovering during the day. Now I'm feeling better."
Belmonte, 26 years, followed her Gold medal in 200m butterfly in 2016 Rio Olympic Games with another one in World Championships.
Aquatic World Championship held in Budapest from July 14 to 30, 2017.
