U19 women’s national basketball team faces Mexico on Friday

CAIRO – 28 July 2017: The Egyptian women’s U19 basketball team will face Mexico on Friday in the classification games that determine places 9 to 16 of the World Cup held in Italy from July 22 to 30.

The team, led by coach Haitham Eid, lost to Russia 114-63 in the first round, but won the second round against Puerto Rico 69-52, marking the first win for the team in their history of participation in the World Cup.

However, the team lost to Spain 88-71 in the last round of the first stage and lost against China with a score of 85-43 in the round of 16.

As all teams had Thursday as a day free of matches, Egypt's women will play for the positions 9-16 on Friday.

The national team includes 12 players: Miral Ashraf, Rana Alaa, Toqa Gamal, Asrar Majid, Maryam Hossam, Hana Yasser, Radwa Salem, Rana Abdel Zaher, Ranem Al-Barqi, Nadine Rehan, Nesma Abdel Rahman, Jannah Mustafa.
