Tarek El Ghannam will join Al-Ahly preparations for new season - Egypt Today
CAIRO - 24 July 2017: Tarek El Ghannam, Al-Ahly basketball legend, decided on Sunday to return to playing Basketball after retirement. El Ghannam will join the Ahly team in their preparations for the new season in mid-September.
“He had personal issues [that] led to his retirement decision, but he decided to return to the game. He has the desire to continue playing and win trophies inside Al-Ahly,” a close friend of El Ghannam told Egypt Today.
El Ghannam played his whole career with Ahly, but left the club in 2013 to play for El Gezira Sports Club for three years, returning to Ahly in 2016.
El Ghanam has won five Egyptian League titles and eight Egyptian Cups. The 38-year-old also won the 2016 African Champions League in Cairo.
After a 20 year career playing for clubs and the national team, El Ghannam announced his retirement earlier this year.
