CAIRO – 24 July 2017: Zamalek SC tied 2-2 with Jordan’s Fath Union Sport on Sunday evening’s second match of Group B in the Arab Club Championship held in Egypt.
Zamalek started the game with strong attacks led by Bassem Morsy and Mahmoud Abdel Razek Shikabala. While Shikabala made several attempts, none would translate into goals in the first five minutes of the game.
Stopping the Zamalek attack waves in the eight minute of the game, Fath Sport made their first goal. In a counter attack cross to the center of Zamalek’s box, led Zamalek right back Hosny Fathy, the ball found Union Sport’s Mohamed Lamine Diakite who scored without a Zamalek defense block.
In the 15th minute of the game Zamalek midfielder Ahmed Refaat left the pitch because of an injury, causing Coach Augusto Inacio to replace him with the team’s newest recruit, Ibrahim Abdel khaleq.
Zamalek returned to the game with a goal by Morsy, which was scored through a penalty kick given to Zamalek after a handball.
The match’s second half started off strong with a goal by returning player Hazem Emam in the 66th minute. Emam crossed the ball to his talented, old team-mate Shikabala , who splendidly shot the ball in an impossible to catch position, putting Zamalek in the lead in the first time of the game.
Diakite, who received a lost ball from Zamalek’s defense in the 89th minute of the game, didn’t hesitate to make another net; with this result Group B ended its matches with draws, making the four teams each have one point.
