CAIRO – 26 July 2024: The New Alamein Festival 2024 hosted a thrilling football showdown on Thursday as retired football icons took to the pitch in a Legends Match, captivating fans and celebrating the spirit of the beautiful game.
In a dazzling display of skill and nostalgia, renowned stars from Al Ahly and Zamalek competed against stars of other great teams, gracing the five-a-side pitch in the heart of the Festival's entertainment area.
The team of other clubs defeated football icons of Al Ahly and Zamalek, securing a 5-4 win in a showcase of skill and passion in a thrilling match filled with memorable moments and testifies the enduring talent of Egypt's football legends.
Abdel Sattar Sabry opened the scoring for the clubs national team with a fantastic goal with his heel against Amir Abdel Hamid.
Hossam Hassan, the former star of Al Masry club, added the second goal after dribbling past football legend Ahmed Hassan and slotting it past Amir Abdel Hamid in the final seconds of the first half.
The clubs’ team then managed to score the third goal. However, the Al Ahly and Zamalek team responded with two consecutive goals, narrowing the gap.
Abdel Sattar Sabry scored the fourth goal after skillfully getting past Amir Abdel Hamid in a beautiful moment, with Hisham Hanafi responding with a thunderous goal for the legends of Al Ahly and Zamalek.
Tamer Hossam then equalized for the legends of Al Ahly and Zamalek with the fourth goal. Hossam Hassan struck again, scoring the fifth goal for the Clubs National Team, making the final score 5-4.
The team of legends from Al Ahly and Zamalek included many great stars such as Hazem Emam, Ahmed Hassan, Emad Meteb, Ahmed Hossam Mido, Abdel Halim Ali, Mohamed Sabry, Amir Abdel Hamid, Tamer Hossam, Gamal Hamza, Hisham Hanafi, Khaled El-Ghandour, Hossam Abd Rabo, Abdel Zaher El-Sakka, Amr El-Desouki, Youssef Hamdi, Mohamed Sabry, Mohamed Salah Abu Greisha, Tamer Saqr, Hossam Hassan, and Amr El-Helwany.
The other clubs' team, which competed fiercely against the legends of Al Ahly and Zamalek, received the well-deserved New Alamein 2024 Festival Cup.
The New Alamein Festival, the largest in the Middle East, is organized by the United Media Services (UMS) and runs until the end of August.
This year, the event features vibrant activities in the heritage city and the entertainment area, including specially organized activities for children, traditional and heritage crafts exhibitions, music competitions, and folklore shows.
These impressive shows have made the festival and the entire city a significant tourist destination for thousands of visitors from Egypt and around the world.
