CAIRO –23 July2017: Al-Ahly SC started off their first match in the Arab Club Championship with a 1-0 loss against Jordanian club Al-Faisaly at Al-Salam Stadium on July 22.
The match started with both teams exchanging several chances looking for the opening goal. Al-Faisaly had a couple of chances to score in the first 20 minutes of the game, but was faced with a lack of accuracy. Al-Ahly then showed dominance in the last 15 minutes, but failed to score any goals to make the first half end with a goalless draw.
Al-Faisaly SC entered the second half looking for a quick goal to secure the lead. After 9 minutes of the start of the second half, Youssef Al-Rawashdeh scored the first goal for Al-Faisaly after the mistake of Al-Ahly’s two center backs Mohamed Nagiub and Ramy Rabia.
Al-Ahly then looked to equalize the score quickly; however, the team failed to score a quick goal. The last 10 minutes saw a lot of chances for Al-Ahly SC, but the team did not manage to score the equalizer to end the match with a precious victory to Al-Faisaly SC.
With this result, NA Hussein Dey from Algeria is first with 3 points, Al-Faisaly is second with 3 points, and Al-Ahly SC is third with 0 points followed by Al-Wihda from the United Arab Emirates coming last with 0 points.
