The 2024 edition of the El Gouna International gets underway Friday with the world’s best players looking to score the latest PSA World Tour Platinum event title.

In a statement CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Activation highlighted the importance of the sponsorship of such tournaments due to their significance in promoting Egypt as a tourist destination in general, and sports tourism in particular.

"This reflects Egypt's ability to organize sports championships and host top professional athletes in various sports, which contributes to enhancing Egypt's image worldwide, especially since squash tournaments attract many professional players from around the world and are closely followed by people of various nationalities," he added.

The event, which runs till April 26, sees the participation of over 96 contenders, including the world’s best players.
