Hossam Hassan has enjoyed a "dream night" on Friday as his era as the Egyptian national team manager started with a 1-0 win over New Zealand to reach the final of the Egypt Capital Cup.
The Pharaohs' winning goal came minutes before halftime, with Mostafa Mohamed converting a penalty earned by Emam Ashour, securing Egypt's spot in the final.
"It is always important to have a good start. It was important for us to win the first game and to put on a good performance. We played against an organized team with many good players but our players had a good game and I am happy that we are in the final." Hossam Hassan stated after the game.
The Pharaohs enjoyed tremendous support from the fans, who were eager to attend the inauguration of the Egypt Stadium in the New Administrative Capital.
Hossam added "This game will go down in history as the first game to be played at this amazing stadium. We are all proud that we have such an outstanding stadium and I am so happy that the first international match at the stadium ended in our favour."
Egypt will face the winner between Tunisia and Croatia, who will face off on Saturday night at Cairo International Stadium.
