Egypt defeats Tunisia, qualifies to U16 basketball World Cup

CAIRO – 21 July 2017: Egypt’s under-16 basketball team qualified for the final of the U16 African Nations Championship AfroBasket on Saturday evening in Mauritius and qualified for the World Cup after beating Tunisia 45/86 on Friday in the semi-final.

The team is scheduled to meet Mali on Saturday in the final, after Mali’s team beat Algeria in the semi-finals.

The junior Pharaohs won full marks during the competitions, beating Madagascar, Rwanda and Algeria in both matches of the first and second legs.

The two sides of the final will qualify together to the junior basketball World Cup, which will be held in Argentina in the summer of 2018.

The Egyptian delegation is headed by Fadiy Hany as the head coach of 12 players:

Mohamed Ahmed Desouki, Omar Tarek Samir, Morsi Ali Abdel Rahman, Ziad Ahmed Saqr, Youssef Osama El Madawy, Ahmed Assem Raafat, Mahmoud Hassan Nour El Din, Youssef Mahmoud Lehitta, Mohammed Ahmed Tobgy, Mo'men Mohamed Musa, Yassin Mohammed Nabil and Mazen Mohammed Saeed, according to Super Kora.
